Jenny-Lyn and Jesse: South Florida Coastal Meets Country Western Wedding

Weddings | 1 Comment

Any time a bride and groom are laid back, fun, and adventurous it shows in their photos!  Jenny-Lyn and Jesse were just that.   They did everything we asked.  They did everything we didn’t ask.  I know it sounds obvious, but it’s so much fun to take pictures with people who are excited about pictures!

Their wedding was a mix of coastal and country-western flavors–coastal, because it was set outdoors among the palms of the intercoastal waters of Jensen Beach (at a great little place called River Palm Cottages), and country-western because our couple infused wood carvings, old trucks, burlap, mason jars, BBQ and line dancing into every nook and cranny.

We love, love, love that Jenny-Lyn and Jesse brought us in for their big day.  Michelle Lawson Photography had a blast capturing the romance and the excitement!

And the dancing brought down the house, um, tent, so to speak.

So take a stroll through the photos.  You’ll see what I’m talking about!

The sweetness of this moment…

A first look without the look means greater anticipation!  Don’t worry, you won’t have to wait too much longer!

Back to getting ready.

Riding to the ceremony in an antique pick-up truck. Bride in the front. Bridesmaids in the back.

There’s that coastal flair I mentioned!  All the gorgeous turquoise accents.  Did she pick the house color to go with the dresses?…Or the dresses to go with the house?  :)

Not only were our bride and groom awesome, but their wedding party knew how let loose too!

There it is!  The country-western flavor!  Okay, so that’s not the only thing, I just really love his hat.

Jenny-Lyn and Jesse had a special surprise in store for their guests:  a fully choregraphed first dance!

Chrissy and Michael: Love Story Wedding at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort

Weddings | 3 Comments

Meet Chrissy and Michael.

They’re in love.

And yes, they got married, too!

The best part is that once, on an ocean far, far away, there was a dancer who met a pianist.

They entertained thousands on a magestic ship, cruising the waters, all the while their hearts becoming entwined.

But, as dark times must always come in a love story, the dancer and the pianist were separated.  Ten thousand miles apart, they stood at the railings of their ships and looked on the same stars and moon, thinking only of each other.

They wrote to each other.  The words poured from their souls across the miles, filling up the space like a lake overflowing.  With such a distance, their twenty-thousand words helped knit them together, until they could no longer bear to be apart.

So they re-united.

And like I said, got married!

And all that knew them rejoiced with them, because they no longer had to be separated.

And we rejoiced too, because they invited us to photograph their wedding.

They filled the pages of two books with the words from those messages; their love story inspiring many more separated souls.

To Chrissy and Michael: A most happily ever after!

Nicki and Stephen: A Florida Grande Oaks Wedding

Weddings | 4,079 Comments

When a photographer can’t be behind the shutter of her camera because, say… she’s getting married, who does she call? Perhaps someone she trusts? Her wedding is a moment she’s dreamed of all her life. She wants to remember it well for the rest of her life.

So when Nicki, an award-winning photographer, came and asked for Michelle Lawson Photography to capture her and Stephen’s wedding, our jaws hit the floor. Wow. A photographer’s photographer? Pardon me while I slap my cheek and blink. What an honor.

Not only are we honored to snap photos for a fellow professional and her groom, but we also had a great time doing it! This couple rocks! They have a wild and fun sense of aventure. We spent lots of time together doing their engagement photo sessions in Hollywood and at the beach. Their sweet personalities added sparkle and light to every shot. Their wedding, set outdoors at the Grande Oaks in Davie, FL, was an incredible mix of romantic charm and clever pops of personality.

This photo of the dress makes me sigh a dreamy sigh every time I see it. Ah, the romance! But this bride’s fun side can’t help but show through too, like with her leopard print heels. Meow!

And yes, grooms have to get ready too.

Then, enter with us into wonderland.

Also known as the Grande Oaks.

It’s a place where jewels cascade from the boughs of majestic oaks trees and sway gently in the afternoon breeze. Violin music sweetly drifts among the friends and families of the celebration.

Our groom stands expectantly waiting for that first sight of his bride.

Wait for it….

Pure Joy! Nicki sees Stephen…

Stephen sees Nicki.

Join with me, friends….AAAAWWWWW!!!

Escape!

But this husband and wife couldn’t stay away for long!  No, no.  There was a party to get to!  Dances to be danced!  Cupcakes to eat!

DJ Ray from Eddie B. & Co. rocked the dance floor.

Congratulations Nicki and Stephen!
