When Min and John met on a mission trip, something seemed strangely familiar. It wasn’t long before they were pouring through old childhood photos, realizing they had grown up together going to the same Korean school on Saturdays. After high school, they parted ways for college, not knowing what the future would hold for their relationship. Eventually, though, the threads of connection pulled them back together in Miami, where Min and John began a five-year-long relationship.
“We went thought a lot and really tested our relationship,” Min remembers. John, being a member of the military, was sent to Iraq for a year. “Having that faith that he will soon return safely,” was what got Min through the tough moments.
It was at the celebration of his safe return home, that John got down on one knee and proposed to Min, surrounded by his military friends.
“My first words were, ‘Shut up’ thinking this was all a joke,” Min says. ”I then quickly realized it wasn’t a joke and John was still on one knee waiting for an answer. I of course said YES!”
And the rest, as they say, is history! Michelle Lawson Photography had the honor of taking their Engagement Photos. The couple then got their dream wedding at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale, FL. To compliment their rich family traditions and also their personal and professional interests, Min and John created a beautiful, vibrant, Korean, military, South Florida-style wedding. Details! Details! The sparkle of Min's shoes matched the sparkle of the bouquet stem, which matched the sparkle in each flower, which matched the sparkle hanging from her jacket!
John wasn't without his own friends and fun while getting ready.
With the embellishment appropriate of an honored man of service, John was dressed sharply in his National Guard uniform.

John's attendants included his childhood best friends and police and military friends of today.
The guys wore stunning pink to add a vibrant punch.
The girls were a knockout in matching pink ruffle dresses.
Pink, orange-yellow rose petals create a path to wedded bliss between white collumns toped with more roses and pops of orchids.
In keeping with Korean tradition, the bride and groom bow to the parents to show respect and thank them for everything they have done.
Since John is in the military and also a cop, the couple incorporated a sword ceremony into the wedding, adding a little twist by including uniformed police to stand along with the military men.
The reception was a warm, inviting affair, set with orange roses, purple orchids, and silver and lime accents.
