And Baby Makes Five

Babies and Toddlers, Family | 1 Comment

Meet Delaney.

Yes I know she’s a baby.  What do you think we only talk about weddings around this blog? Weren’t you paying attention two weeks ago when I said there’s only one thing I love more than gorgeous wedding photos…it’s cute, chubby babies? In baskets?

Well, okay, she’s not in a basket.  Baskets are overrated anyway.  She’s somewhere far better.  She’s in the arms of her family!  We met the other four members of Delaney’s family a few years back when her big sister was in the exact same position she’s in now–fresh off the birthday boat and at the hospital. Here we are for a second round, taking pictures for this sweet family! There’s nothing quite like capturing those precious, new baby moments.  Take a second to sigh and smile with me.

"Hey, do I know you from somewhere?"

Lawsons + Blessings = Awesome!!

Babies and Toddlers, Family, Kids and Teens | 4,559 Comments

I think it’s time I introduced myself.

I’m not Michelle.  Or Steve.  Or even a Lawson.  (Gasp! I know. I should have asked you to sit down first before I dropped that one on you!)  I’ve been blah, blah, blah-ing in your general direction for several months now and haven’t even told you who I am.  How rude.  Please accept my apology.

This is me.

I’m the Mom-like one in the middle.  The rest of this motley crew is my family.  My name is Tara Blessing, and I’ll be your blogger for the remainder of the flight.

Now don’t get all upset about this.  You’re still getting the same great Michelle Lawson Photography experience that you always have.  The blog has not been farmed out to a grass hut in India with internet access.  The Lawsons and the Blessings go together like bread and butter.  Like peas and carrots.  Like toilet paper and shoe bottoms.  We have been friends for twelve years!

Long ago, my husband, Seth, and I lived in Fort Lauderdale. I’d moved there to get my degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. As a bonus I met my super-duper-catch-of-a-husband in that city as well. To top it all off, we began our super-duper-awesome-friendship with Steve and Michelle there, too!  (Thanks Rosie!)

Our daughter was just six months old when she “held” the Lawson’s first son in her arms at the hospital. These two are 10 years old now and have been buddies ever since.

We moved away, back to my hometown of Tallahassee, Florida, but continued to visit with the Lawsons several times a year. Our families’ next pair of kids came along–for them, another boy–for us, another girl.

There never were two peas in a pod as alike as these kids.  Crazy comes the second time around. :)

The kids have grown and changed over the years.  I can’t say much for their fathers.  Seth and Steve are like brothers.  Now I remember where Crazy came from!

The Lawsons have continued to add to their family with two more boys and another baby on the way.  We now have to take two mini-vans when we go out to dinner together.

The Blessings couldn’t keep up, so we got a dog instead.

She doesn’t come out to dinner, but she does come with us whenever we visit the Lawsons.  Her name is Poppy–like the flower, not like the Mexican grandfather.  Awwww…isn’t she a cutie-wootie-ootie?  Okay, I’ll stop.

A few weeks ago, we had our semi-annual visit.  We came down to South Florida to stay with the Lawsons for a week of summer fun.

We had a blast!

Of course, we couldn’t resist doing some family photo sessions together, like at that awesome graffiti wall you saw moments ago.  And here:

Love these kiddos…

So in review of today’s story:

  • Sorry for not saying “Hi” sooner.
  • You’re in good hands.
  • Lawsons + Blessings = crazy, fun, family, photography, blogging, awesomeness!!!

Steve and Michelle :)

4 boys + us = Our sweet family. Love Steve’s TOMS. He only has 7 pairs. ;0 and the boys each have a pair as well. (not pictured here though) Love that company. If you are unaware of the company TOMS and their One for One program……you need to check them out! With every pair of shoes and SUNGLASSES (Pictured above!) purchased, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes or help give sight to a child or person in need.  {Join the One for One movement!}

Us again….Out to dinner: We don’t typically do dinner out on Valentine’s day. We normally go out the day before to after and skip out on the crowds….but this year we had a sitter, and so we decided to just seize the moment and enjoy the night alone! Well, not totally alone…we did have a 7 month old stow away. ;) Our little Matthew came along for the ride. He mostly played with is cookie monster and acted all cute- so we didn’t mind! ;) We went to Delray Beach to have dinner at DaDa on Swinton Ave. Its awesome! The food is great, the waiters are hip and the atmosphere is romantic, sweet and fun. Lanterns hanging from trees, twinkle lights and eclectic seating….: it’s all the rage. :) Definitely a check out if you are in the area! Also: A great wedding venue! We’ve done a wedding reception there and it was gorgeous!!  {Vaughn and Angela!} <3
